Talks a bit about who is doing what and with which and to whom, and in the process says something about who profits from it all. Check it out. Ol' Doc Edwards. 1) The company known as LTI closed it texas plant and fired all 150 employees. Texas prisoners now build their printed circuit boards (used by IBM, Dell and T.I.) 2) Boeing laid off several thousand and moved a considerable portion (of the work) to the Washington State Prison authorities.' 3) Escod Industries sold $16,000,000 of cables last year made exclusively by prisoners. 4) Prisoners paid ~10 to 50 cents/hour. 5) Prisoners made $1.3 Billion worth of goods in 1994. This number is expected to reach ~$10 Billion by year 2000. 6) There are 1.7 Million (now 2 million) U.S. prisoners now. 7) An estimated 50 to 80% of all U.S. prisoners were 'convicted' of consensual 'crimes'. This means 'crimes' between CONSENTING adults. 8) More companies have jumped on the prison labor band wagon since this report was published.
